CSU Summer Arts: Stage Combat Workshop
Theatre has a very special place in my heart because it has created a wonderful home for me. Whether I am spending hours in rehearsals, at home playing around with choreography, or backstage helping out in the different shops, the theatre is my favorite place to be. It is essentially a second job that all I am paid in is the final product. All the hard work, sweat, and emtoions that the theatre brings is something I would never trade for anything in the world. It is a career path I take very seriously and I understand the difficulty in that realization alone, but no amount of money will ever be worth the happiness, fulfillment and love in my heart I have for performing.
My undying love and devotion to the theatre arts helps me strive to always perfect my craft at every given opportunity. In Feburary of this year my school participated in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. There was an audition of different summer workshops and theater companys. I won
a $900 scholarship to attend a stage combat workshop in California State University in Monterey Bay for their CSU Summer Arts program. I have a level one proficiency in Unarmed, Single sword, Quarter Staff and Knife. I want
to go and pass my higher level proficiencies.I have choreographed for many of my school's performances and I love every minute of it.
The money raised will help pay for the tuition, food, boarding and other expenses(i.e. gas for the drive, parking, any extra class fees). This is an opportunity of a lifetime with all major proficencies being taught. The Stage Combat Workshop runs two weeks July 14-27th. Any donation would be whole heartedly appreciated. Besides being a theatre major, I work part-time and go to school. The credits I earn from this workshop are tranferable and will be added to my theatre resume.
Please help a poor college artist perfect their art! Thank you!!
