Going On The Road To Make A Documentary!

We are Jeff and Amy Beaver and we're going on the road to interview people who work in the service industry and pursue our life long dream of being film makers!







We've started this campaign in order to help us purchase a VW Bus with the intention of seeking greater funding later on to be able to travel to all 50 states, interviewing people who work in the service industry (i.e., wait staff, store clerks, mechanics, hotel staff, etc) and film their stories.







We figure if we can get enough funding for a bus, we will be able to start traveling and filming in order to put together sufficient footage for a full-blown documentary film campaign.



For now though, we want to find out if we have enough support to get the bus. If we can get the bus, we can make the movie.







Why a VW Bus Instead of an RV?

Jeff knows the mechanics of a Volkswagen well enough to be able to restore it and to make minor repairs while we're on the road. Also, gas mileage is considerably cheaper in a van as opposed to an RV. We will have camping equipment with us, and will take advantage of campsites as much as possible.







Are We Crazy For Doing This?







Absolutely. But we did everything according to what we were taught would give us success in life: we ourselves worked in the service industry, waiting tables, bathing dogs for groomers, washing dishes, working as retail clerks; you name it, we did it. Jeff is a veteran of the Gulf War. He was 82nd airborne and had joined the military in order to pay for college. We attended undergraduate school, moved to central Arkansas, thought we had 'settled down', and found ourselves being stalked by a stranger. Because we had a child under the age of 2 at the time, we packed up everything and moved to Northwest Arkansas. We decided that it would be in our best interest to go back to school. We earned our Master's degrees, and finished with Master of Fine Arts degrees. Much to our dismay, we found ourselves consumed by student loan debt, but we worked off and on over the years in order to raise a happy, healthy child and ensure her admission into a good college and an independent life on her own.







Now that we're Empty Nesters, we've decided that it's now or never. We either make this documentary, or we don't. Getting this vehicle is the first step on this journey. It's a big, scary step, but we figure if we don't start now, we never will.







Please help us get the funding we need to acquire this vehicle and begin our adventure as filmmakers on the road. We're hoping to raise $15,000 in order to get our two Shih-Tzus fully vetted and ready for traveling and/or boarding, as well as finding a VW bus that we can rely on to take us where we need to go safely.
