A couple of years ago I bought my first car- a 1983 Celica Supra that I've dubbed 'Riddley.' The seller said it needed some work, but I had no idea the entire engine would have to be overhauled. I've put a ton of money into this car and the interior & engine has nearly been rebuilt.
However, it still needs a valve job and a small assortment of part installations/repairs before I can get it smogged and registered. I lost my job before I could get that done and now I'm living off of the income from my art and costume building. Due to my backlog of work I cannot take regular commissions until my backlog is cleared.
Normally that would not be a problem because I could just wait to get the repairs done until I finish my backlog. But, much to my dismay, the office of the mobile home park I live in came by a month ago and demanded I have my car removed within seven days because it's not registered. I can't get it registered in the condition it's in because California requires you pass a smog test, which my Supra will not.
Right now the car is sitting on the street at a friend's house with yellow 2010 tags and can be towed away at any time. It's been a massive amount of stress for me knowing and worrying about that. I really need to get my Supra fixed, not only because I'm at a risk of losing it right now, but also because being able to drive would greatly improve my life.
I'm paying $900 +parts to my mechanic (he's retired, hence the low price). The $500 I'm aiming for will get him to tow my Supra to his place and begin work. From there he's allowing me to pay him as he goes, which is very manageable for me.
Since I'm unable to make a proper income right now due to my backlog and the likelyhood that my car will be towed before my backlog is completed, I decided to start a fundraiser. I would GREATLY appreciate any donations I get. I will be compensating all donators with some quick-but-still-quality artwork of whatever they'd like. All donator art will be completed mid-May after my backlog is complete.
I'm a car enthusiast, I LOVE cars and I finally own one of my dream cars. I made a mistake not fully checking it over when I bought it, but I've come such a long way with it and it's finally almost restored (well, aside from the paint! Haha). It would be a dream come true to finally be able to drive my Supra, but I need a little help to get there.
