Miguel Martinez Scholarship Fund

It is with great sadness to report that Miguel Luis Martinez crossed over to the other side on 3/10/2016. Miguel was born in New Jersey and then moved to Berkeley from the age of 6 months to 6. He grew up in Sanger, a small Barrio outside of Fresno, CA. He then moved to Sacramento, CA where he attended Jesuit High School. Miguel was an extraordinary honors student and excellent athlete in football & track and field.  Miguel became involved in La Raza Club and also participated in several social justice campaigns.  Miguel Luis Martinez was recruited by Cal Berkeley.  He aspired to earn a doctorate degree to payback his Latina/o community.

Miguel Luis Martinez was currently enrolled in his second semester, where he passed away from a pulmonary embolism. 

Miguel leaves behind his family (Cid Martinez, Hilda Martinez, and Gabriela Martinez) and his second family the Cal Berkeley Summer Bridge community.
