I want to say thank you to all of you. I ended this successful season with a silver medal at the World Junior Championships. This season has been so much fun and a wild dream come true. God is great and I would like to thank you again for helping to give me over shot to achieve something that last year I could only dream of.
Yesterday I competed at the USA Junior Championships and won the shot put with 55'10.25. Now I am on the the USA World Junior team. I really want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart because all of this was made possible by all of you. I am eternally grateful because this has opened so many doors and given me many more opportunities, that other wise I wouldn't have.
I can't believe that people who don't really know me are helping me to achieve my dream. I can't explain how happy i am. There were so many times in the past that i felt like no one even cared. All through God,hard work, faith, and people that believe in me. All I've asked for is that i be given one shot. I now will have my one shot to accomplish everything that me and my coach has sacrificed and worked so hard for.
Thank you from the bottom, top, middle, left and right side of my heart to everyone that has donated and spread the word.
My name is Raven Saunders. I am high school senior at Burke High School in Charleston, SC. I am raising money to go to Eugene, Oregon for the USA Junior Championships(July 5-6, 2014). Two weeks larter I hope to represent the USA at the World Junior championships (July 22-27, 2014). I am the US Indoor and Outdoor national record holder in the shot put (a track and field event). I finished indoors at 11th in the nation and 33rd in the world including college and professional women shot putters. For girls under the age of 20 in the world, I finished 2nd. In the USA I am ranked #1 indoors this year and I am currently ranked #1 outdoors.
