The community of Warren is amazing, when they learned that a cherished program was going to be canceled, they rallied together to help fund the program. Over $12500 was raised in just 2 short months!!
We have a great dilemma now that the Town of Warren has voted to reinstate the funding for the Warren Summer Rec Program. The funds raised will still go into a separate account for Warren Recreation only but we want to give the community members that donated the opportunity to take back their donations if they feel that they no longer wish to donate to this cause.
The money raised would be set aside for the future. We do not know what the budget situation will be in the next fiscal year. Please send me a reply if you wish to change your donation status.
Again THANK YOU so much for investing in our town!!!
Can we hit $7000 by the end of the day!!!! $60 more dollars!!!!!
Thank you again to all the members of the community that have shared our message, donated towards our goal, and helped preserve an important program in the Town of Warren.....
We are over the 10%!!! Now lets see if we can get to $5000!!! Don't forget all donations up to $5000 will be matched!!! Please help us out, whether you can donate $5, $10, or $1, if everyone who went to the playgrounds donated - the youth of Warren would get to continue this tradition!
The program will tentatively run July 7th - August 15th. This money raised will all go toward this program. If we do not reach our goal the money will be used to offset the fees to make it more affordable to families.
A separate line item in the budget has been set up - this money will not go into the general fund.
The Warren Recreation Summer program needs your help.
Were you ever BOY/GIRL of the year, did you every bring a pet for the pet show, did you learn to swim at the Warren Beach?
For Generations this program has contributed to the fiber of our community. Everyone has a story about nok hockey tournaments, Brisol/Warren field day, bowling, arts & crafts, homerun derby, and activities that filled the summer. Whether you went to Homestead, Child Street, Hugh Cole, Burr's Hill, Jamiel's Park, Laurel Park or the gymnastics program you remember meeting up with friends, hanging out with the supervisors, weekly contests and the end of the summer trip to Rocky Point. It was a safe place for the youth of town to gather and a great summer job for the town's college students.
THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN ELIMINATED due to budget retraints and we want to bring it back for the summer of 2014. We want our children to continue the traditions and continue to have a safe place to enjoy their summer.
How you can help - please donate to our cause, if all the community members who have been effected by this program were to make a donation - we would have enough to continue the program for the next generation.
SHARE YOUR STORIES - Do you have a special story to share, Who can forget Pete Sepe, Al Sweet, Doc Abbruzzi, Gary Martins and countless other characters that influenced your childhood.
QUESTIONS: What happens if the goal is not reached - this money will go to off set any cost to parents, that are associated with the program for the summer fee. Where is the money going - There has been a separate line item set up just for the Summer Recreation program - it will not go to the general fund.
