My cancer journey:
It all started on Christmas Eve 2013. I was hanging out with my family; enjoying games, football, good food and company. I had a nagging pain around my diaphragm on the right side. It felt mostly like a spasm and would come and go, more annoying than anything. Then later that night, I awoke to horrific pain in my right shoulder, unchanged by any position, massage or stretching. Christmas day the pain was back to its nagging annoying self. Until I threw up blood. Which prompted my trip to the ED.

In the span of 3 weeks I had countless tests and images taken resulting in the decision to remove the mass in my pelvis to further identy what type of cancer was invading my body. It was confirmed a week later; Stage IV germ cell ovarian cancer. Recovering from a major abdominal surgery, I prepared for what would be 12 weeks of chemotherapy.

This chemo regiem is among the hardest to tolerate. The list of side effects is lengthy and as a result, I have not been able to work during this time. This site was created as an opportunity for people to give as they feel able. Medical bills are a burden to many in this country and though I have insurance, the costs are great. I am blessed that my body is fighting this cancer and hopeful I will be cancer free and in remission soon. This journey has changed my life and the way I look at things.

A little about me:
I am a 29 year old phyiscal therapist spealizing in the treatment of people with neurological injury/deficits. I love spending time with my family and friends and recently purchased a home in Portland Oregon. I love adventure! Traveling throughout the United States to see friends and family or to other countries. I enjoy riding my bike around the city and in neighboring areas around the Pacific Northwest. In a lot of ways, I felt like I had finally "arrived" and then everything stopped...
