Jackets for the Homeless

2017 Annual Jacket Drive for the Homeless

Now that Loretta and I have retired, we want to ensure that we give to our community. I retired from City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation after 32 years and Loretta retired from the City of Claremont after 31 years.  We stared our Jacket drive for the homeless last year. We have already purchased over 1500 jackets with your donations and on the average, a typical Jacket will cost only about $5 each and our goal is t distribute 5,000 Jackets to the homeless this year. We will start distributing the Jackets starting Nov 20, 2017.

It’s that time of year again, where we are asking for your help with our upcoming Jacket Drive for the Homeless.  Although we are still in “warm weather mode” here in Southern California, the cooler weather will soon be upon us, and therefore we need to start purchasing the much-needed jackets -- 100% of your donations will go toward purchasing the Jackets

Last year, through your generosity, TransformingaLife purchased over 2600 jackets for adults and children.  These jackets were distributed directly to the homeless in the area surrounding Los Angeles City Hall, as well as several other locations, including the Los Angeles Mission, the Salvation Army distribution centers in Hollywood and Pomona, Mary’s Mercy Center, Veronica’s Home, and Mercy House.

Our goal this year is to purchase a minimum of 5,000 jackets, a to expand our distribution areas as well.  In order to do this, we would like to humbly ask for any donation that you are able to provide.  (please note that “TransformingaLife” is a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization, and your donations are 100% tax deductible).  With your help, we will be able to provide many jackets to those in need, both adults, and children.

As we all agree, it is heartbreaking to know that there are so many who go without the basic needs of life on a daily basis.  And although it may seem like a small gesture, providing a jacket to keep someone warm, and give some protection from the rain, allows us to help one step at a time.

Thank you again, and may God bless you for your servant’s heart.
