Learning Adventure in England

Donation protected

Hello,
My name is Meredith Tibjash and I am an artist, jewelry maker (metalsmith), and beginner knife maker (bladesmith).

I have been given the incredible opportunity of being the first U.S. Artist in Residence at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey, England.  The residency is for six months beginning January of 2015.

This residency is unpaid and does not come with housing, which is why I need your support.  I am asking for a donation of $100, $50, or any amount that you can contribute to help me take full advantage of this opportunity.

The University for the Creative Arts residency will allow me to focus on a new body of work, chances for teaching opportunities, and expand my ever-growning interest in early modern european history.  I want my work to reflect my surroundings and there is no greater place to do this than England.

The cost for this residency is roughly $16,000 (housing, materials, food/living expences, etc.) so every donation counts.

I am a profound believer in giving back and I hope to turn this opportunity into a way to teach other artists about the different residency options that are out there. Eventually, I hope to have a career in teaching, and I know this residency will allow me to give my future students a different perspective on the world that will help them grow in their crafts.

The residency does not cover housing, food, travel or any other expenses that will arise throughout the six months I will be in England.  I need your support right now to seize this unique opportunity to be the first U.S. resident that this school has ever had.  Please consider donating $100, $50 or any amount that you feel comfortable giving to support me with this adventure.

Please check out my website and blog at www.MeredithTibjash.com  to read more about my love for travel, history and metalsmithing.  I will be posting pictures (which you can follow with daily images on Instagram @mstibj) of what I'll be working on regularly, along with details of workshops with various metalsmiths and bladesmithing around Europe. Updates will be posted here as well.  I cannot tell you how excited I am at the opportunity to learn and expand my technical knowledge in such a historically rich and beautiful place as England.

Listed below is a series of amounts availabe to donate. Each donation comes with a reward!  Donate and not only support me in the next step in my career, but receive something in return.  All rewards will be mailed out once I am back in the U.S. in late summer 2015.

Any support, either in the form of a donation of $100, $50 or any other amount is most appreciated.  This trip has been well over a year in the making, and I am excited to move forward and be part of a new network of metalsmiths and bladesmiths.

Thank you!
-Meredith Tibjash
