Help Alex Replace Dullahan

Some of you have met Dullahan. He's Alex's transportation of choice, a Prodeco Phantom X2 electric bicycle, who faithfully ferried him to and from work and taken him on errands every day for the past year. Alex has decorated him with all sorts of modifications and lights to make this bike a personal one. Today, we went out together on our bikes to order some dessert and parked our bikes outside, locked against the railing. We weren't in the restaurant more than 10 minutes when Alex got up and wanted to check on his bike..... to find that it had been stolen.
This bicycle is Alex's only method of reliable transportation, and since the two of us share a car and are currently undergoing changing work situations, losing Dullahan has been a really devastating blow to both our spirits and our working capabilities. Not to mention, replacing him is going to require a huge sum of money.
The theft has already been reported to the police and we are pursuing the proper channels. However, it's very unlikely that we're able to recover this bike. We're going to try to claim the bicycle on our renter's insurance, but since we were out and the bicycle was not stolen due to a break-in at our apartment, we're skeptical that the claim won't get denied. And yes, our eyes are glued to Craigslist right now.
Any donation is highly appreciated, and I will offer incentives to people who can donate a little extra. Most of you guys know that I hardly ever take commissions, so this will be pretty much the only opportunity I'll make available for a long time to come.
