It's an embarrassing position to be in, all the more so because it was incurred due to my kidney transplant expenses. I've had my precious transplant for a little over three years now; I received it February 18, 2011.

That year we had some fairly sizeable medical and associated nonmedical costs. Ferry tickets to get back and forth to the transplant clinic several times a week, for instance. Parking at the hospital, which isn't close to free, even with a validated parking pass.

My beloved husband, as he always does, prioritized my health first, above everything else. It's what kept me alive to face three years of dialysis when the insurance company wanted to deny me for a year, a year in which it guaranteed that I would have died. My prescription drugs, my doctor visits to multiple doctors, all of that he bore in stride. However, he put some things off to do that, and one thing he put off is the 2011 property taxes.

It is now 2014. We are in no better shape financially than we were, and the property taxes must be raised by the end of April or we lose our house. We will have managed to stash aside $2900 little by little and need $3700 to make it. If we don't pay it all at once before April 30, we lose our house and it gets sold for back taxes, in which case we will wind up with nothing. Everything we own is tied up in this house. Every asset we have is here. Our lives, our dreams, and the setups I'll need again for dialysis later on in life are here. The dialysis clinic only pays for those once in a lifetime.

At the advice of my sister Aji, I'm turning to GoFundMe for help. Please help us keep this house. I've poured everything I've ever had into it. We're asking for somewhat over what we need to cover GoFundMe's fees and the WePay fees, and anything extra the county decides we owe in interest and penalties that we don't already know about yet. The $3700 should be it, and if it is, we'll use whatever's left to start saving up to fix the front porch, which is falling into significant disrepair.

Anything you can do to help, please do. Share, donate, let people you trust know. Write me and I'll write back. THANK YOU.
