    Two years ago a person very dear to me became ill with LUPUS, unlucky this person lives in a country where LUPUS is a rare disease. In the Dominican Republic there is not a record of how many Dominican might be suffering from LUPUS, there for the treatment is very expensive. My sister unfortunately is one of many individuals who cannot afford to pay more than $ 500 dollars a month to keep herself a live, and provide food and shelter to  her three daughters. Family member and friends have help from time to time, but the reality is that month after month we are struggling to send her the funds that she needs to buy her medicine. She is only 26 years of age and is hoping to still be here to see her daughters grow up.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. This results in symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs.
