Emily Hupe Medical Bills & Back Surgery

A dear friend of mine, and many of yours, Emily Hupe is preparing for yet another back surgery.  With recent changes in Emily's health care coverage, the Hupe family is faced with covering the entire cost of the surgery, which is approximately $70,000.  Some of you are aware of Emily's story while others of you are not. For those of you who don't know Emily Hupe, please allow for me to introduce you my incredible friend!  Emily and Stephen are the proud parents of 7 remarkable children; Max age 20, Makaela age 18, Hannah age 16, Spencer age 14, Phoebe age 13, Wyatt age 11, and Ono age 9.  During the birth of Emily's seventh child, Emily needed to have a c-section due to a placenta précis. When Emily was administered her spinal, the anesthesiologist punctured Emily's spine leaving her permanently paralyzed in her right leg. Emily was on crutches for a short time until she had a fall that broke her back- she has been in a wheelchair ever since.  Emily hasn't ever allowed for her medical condition to hold her back. Soon after Emily's initial spinal surgery, she coached her daughters cheer squad. Emily continues to homeschool her 7 children and speaks at local educational events. I met the Hupe family through a local show choir and Emily and her daughters volunteered many hours  and late nights to costume making. They are an incredible family and have grown close over the last several years despite their struggles- their faith remains strong! Emily is needing to have surgery to replace the plates and screws holding her spinal fusion in place from when she broke it.  Doctors told Emily this surgery would eventually need to take place but the Hupe family wasn't planning on it being so sudden.  The doctors are concerned that if the screws and plates in Emily's back aren't replaced soon they could cause internal damage to Emily. Here is where you come in- I am reaching out to friends and family, asking for those that are able to give to the Hupe family to please do so. Any and all donations aregreatly appreciated.
