Rylan's Recovery

When only 2 years old, Rylan suffered a near drowning and had an estimated 45 minutes of CPR.  He had extensive brain damage due to lack of oxygen for an unknown amount of time. Doctors were unable to tell what functions he would regain and his diagnosis was pretty grim. However, at each follow up appointment, Rylan amazed doctors at his recovery. He is very cognitive and can laugh, smile, watch his favorite T.V. shows, is gaining better head and torso control. If you tell him the toy is red when it is in fact blue, he laughs because he knows you are teasing. He tries to get out of his chair, he raises his arms up for hugs an he gives kisses. He has healed so much when doctors did not even know if he would breath on his own, let alone laugh again!

 A recent medical breakthrough called Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments can help Rylan have a much better healing process and can actually help his brain to heal from the injury . This is the only therapy in the history of medicine shown to improve brain function, it stimulates new micro-vasculature into the injured brain tissue.These treatments work well in young children because their brains are still growing and developing, but the sooner he can have it done, the better the results!

Rylan's injury happened while his father neglected to watch closely during his parenting time. Now Rylan's mother bears the financial burden and extra cost for Rylan's needed care. Unfortunately, Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments are not covered by insurance.
