In Memory of Edward R. Girdick

Donation protected
We lost our Dad, Edward Girdick, unexpectedly at the age of 68 on Monday, October 8th.  Our hearts are heavy as our family tries to process this great loss. It is difficult to put into words the impact our Dad has made on us.  He has always been there for all three of us every step of the way to support our ambitions and see us through our struggles.  He always has our back and that alone makes us feel so grateful that he was our Dad. His unwavering generosity, sarcastic, goofy sense of humor and overall huge heart will forever carry on and continue to enrich our lives and his 5 grandchildren's lives.

Until his passing, our Dad was a dedicated employee at Arcelor Mittal, formerly Inland Steel, for 49 years of his life.  He thoroughly enjoyed his job and everyone he worked with.  We know he would regret not having the opportunity to give all of his dear friends and family a proper goodbye. We want you to know that you all have always meant so much to him.

Dad had a love for Harley Davidson Motorcycles, handy gadgets, the Zoo and likely had every tool known to man; yet the one passion that has stuck with him throughout his entire life is his love for taking pictures and cherishing the moments he shared with his friends and family.  The pictures he has left behind beautifully capture his unique perspective of all the many phases of his life. We feel so lucky to have these pictures to reflect back on.

With that said, consider this an invite to join us on Tuesday, October 16th to honor our Dad's memory and say your goodbyes at the Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN 46321 (1 mile off the highway and first exit past the border) from 2:00pm - 6:00pm.   The many pictures of his life will be on display.  (This is the only public services we will be having)

PLEASE NOTE: In lieu of flowers or donations to our family, we feel our Dad would rather such sentiments go towards the health and well being of his daughter, Kristin Girdick, who he loved with all his heart.  Kristin is my Dad's little "partner" in life.  Kristin, like dad, has the biggest heart.

We thank you all in advance for your loving words and support throughout this surreal time.  Please feel free to introduce yourself or leave special thoughts or fun memories of our Dad on this page.   We posted a few old/new pics of our family, so click on the picture to see more!

We love you Dad and miss you so much. : (

Love,

Kraig, Kristin and Kari
