Simon Rouget Assistance Fund

Our wonderful Cape Cod neighbor, Simon Rouget, the new French chef at PB Boulangere in Wellfleet, was struck by a driver while clearing snow from under his car on Route 6 during a raging snow storm Saturday leaving him with a broken elbow, badly sprained neck and bruised spine. He has a family to support, mortgage and family bills. After an extensive investiagtion police have ruled it not a "hit and run", but it has left Rouget without a source of income and bills to pay and a family to care for... As Simon said, "a chef that does not work does not get paid". This man who was usually works six 14 hour days a week now has no means of support.

He will be out of work at least two months then rehab.  Jackie and I have gotten involved because as their next door neighbors we have found Simon and his wife Stanise to be the most charming, hard working, loving couple  and super parents to two sweet toddlers. We also want them to know that most Americans would not leave him injured in a snow bank, and that most of us would help in any way we can to get him back on his feet.

The epilogue here is that the injury has cost him his job at PB Boulangere because he cannot return to work at this time jeopardizing his work visa. Without steady income to pay their mortgage and loans this couple has made a concious decision to return to France with their two American children and pick up the pieces of their lives.
