Performance Arts; DJ

Donation protected
For the past 10 years, I have been creating original electronic music by using GarageBand software in Imac computer. This particular software enabled me to mix my spoken words (poems) with the music tracks. This created my ability to translate the spoken words into American Sign Language (ASL), a language that most deaf and hard of hearing people use to communicate with each other. The translations of my poems into ASL also go along with my performance arts: mime, dance movements, and acting.

Now I have a desire to go beyond just using GarageBand. I am interested in pursuing for a DJ equipment or machine that can expand my electronic music/spoken words even further by mixing, manipulating, and doing other tricks for sound effects. This idea could help make my performance more interesting and unique in ways that GarageBand cannot do.

What DJ device do I want? It's called Numark Mixtrack II DJ Software Controller. Yet it costs money to buy this device. I would like to ask for your help by having you donate toward the cost. The device costs $215.00 including tax at Guitar Center in Rochester, NY. I thought through and decided to try to reach up to $230.00, just to play it safe that other costs may come up. You can donate at $1.00 up to $10.00 or more.

So this particular DJ machine can be connected to my iMac laptop. I then would be able to download all the work I have created into Numark Mixtrack ll DJ machine. Once in the machine, I then would be able to do the creative manipulations such as increasing the speed of the beat, do scratching, creating repetitions of certain spot of the tracks, and many other tricks. These kind of creative sound effects could entertain the audience even more than just using GarageBand.

You may ask. "How do I do my poems in ASL with the DJ device?". Well, for example, I would download one spoken word poem with electronic music, already made from GarageBand (converted into MP3), into Numark DJ device, then play it as a DJ by creating sound mixing effects. When the spoken words come up, I then would let the DJ device play on its own and translate the words into ASL. When the words are not there, then I would go back to the DJ device and do the sound effects. This could be considered as a DJ/performance arts kind of approach. Yet, I have other ideas in mind.

The ideas are I would be able to just play my electronic music without spoken words as just a DJ for stage performances. I also could use famous musicians' work and be a regular DJ for parties, weddings, and so forth. Being able to be a DJ with only original electronic music without spoken words (poems) or being a regular DJ for parties, weddings, and so on could help me get more audiences, meaning opening more doors to the public. That kind of idea could help market my work. If, which I dream for, I get good publicity and audience, then I would pursue to create CDs of my original work down the road.

Henceforth, can you help me reach my dream to become a DJ/performance artist? I added a picture of Numrak Mixtrack ll DJ machine (above) for you to get an idea. I already included a video of myself talking about the goal and demonstrating my electronic music/poems in translation of ASL and other electronic playing activities such as using GarageBand plus Kaossilator electronic music device.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy my idea, creativity, and pursuit of my dream.
