I am the author of the upcoming book Hidden Racists: The Dirty Secrets of Southern Evangelical Christianity. Recently, a bestselling author contacted me and encouraged me to write a book on how I had to confront racial prejudice as an evangelical minister in the South. This author has agreed to mentor me, write the forward and afterward and help me find a publisher. Also, Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup For the Soul, said he would give my book a "shout out" on Twitter when it gets published. Jack has 135,000 Twitter followers!
My book is a call for Christians to repent of racism and to radically follow Jesus into racial and ethnic reconciliation, and friendship with people of color and other religions. This book is my spiritual memoir of my painful journey as a minister to challenge Southern conservative Christians to follow Jesus and love their racially and ethnically diverse neighbors. Although I stood against racial prejudiced in the church I will also discuss how I had bitter prejudiced in my heart towards Muslims after 9/11. The book will end with the story of how God used a little Muslim boy by the name of Omar to show me that I was a racist in my heart towards Muslims and that I had to change if I was going to call myself a follower of Jesus. Omar changed my life.
My book will come out in 2015. Also, I have the opportunity to be mentored by a media branding pubishing consultant and book promoter who has helped several books become New York Times bestsellers. One book he promoted sold over 18 million copies! He has offered to mentor and teach me everything he knows in six months for a major reduced fee because we are friends and he believes in what I am doing! I will have to travel to Florida for some of this training so that is why I need to raise $4,200. Will you help me become a bestselling author?
