Frannie's Fanny Packs

In February 2010, Frances (Frannie) Borland, of Oswego, NY, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. During her last chemotherapy treatments that she endured (5-FU), it involved wearing a clear plastic pouch in which the chemo drug was administered over an extended period of time. Although this allowed Frannie to live a bit more of a “normal” life in which she could continue about daily functions when her strength allowed, there was still something about going out in public with the clear plastic pouch for all to see. With the help of her sister Frannie began wearing a fancier fanny pack that helped to hide the pouch, and provide more privacy to the battle she was enduring. Many other patients at Brittonfield (where she was receiving treatment) were jealous over her fanny pack and so Frannie’s Fanny Packs were born.

Sadly enough, Frannie lost her battle on May 27, 2011, but her memory lives on for each pack that is passed along to a Brittonfield chemotherapy patient in hopes that they too find that small bit of normalcy in their life while they wage their battle against cancer. Each fanny pack may be different in design, from plain colors to various prints, but are also embroidered with a four-leaf clover, and Frannie’s Fanny Packs to help carry on Frannie’s memory. One fanny pack costs roughly $20 for the pack itself and the embroidery. Please consider making a pledge of any amount to help keep Frannie’s memory alive.
