Medical Bills
Bob DeGroot, road name Dutch, is a club brother in chapter
1-2 of the Florida Vulcan Riders Association, Lakeland, Florida. Bob is the kind of guy that always sees the
glass half full rather than half-empty, has a great attitude towards life, his
family and his club, and has a great passion for riding. Bob Is the kind of guy that, if you need help,
all you need to do is ask, and if it is within his power, he will be there to
help. Three weeks ago Bob was admitted to the hospital in Lakeland, Florida to
have open-heart bypass surgery. At the
time he went into the hospital, his heart was functioning at 28%, so there was
no option but to do the surgery and do it as quickly as possible.
Thankfully Bob came out of the surgery and is regaining his
strength each day. So often in life we
find ourselves facing a situation such as Bob's, and we're grateful that there
are those that have the technology and the ability to save your life. But then reality sets in. Bob is 60 years old, and has been on the job
for less than one year. He has no
medical insurance. He has no sick leave,
and what savings he and his wife Gale have managed to put back is being eaten
up rapidly. Even though the hospital has
indicated that they will work with him on payments, he still has doctor's
visits that he must attend before he's back to full health, and some rather
expensive medication to go along with that. The bank still wants their mortgage payment,
the power company still wants their payment, and their car still needs gas and
the pantry still needs food.
It looks like Bob will be off work for 6 to 8 weeks, but the
real problem is due to the fact that Bob was not on the job for a year and he
lacks just a little over 40 hours meeting the criteria of the family leave act.
They have already given his position
away and at this time he is not sure that he will have a job when the doctor
releases him. Chapter 1"“2 is trying to
help their brother in need. We're asking
you to put yourself in his situation. What
is that saying - but not for the grace of God, there go I. So if you received this invitation to give, whether
