After he lost his only son in July 1992, he raised his only granddaughter. Him and his wife were one of the first people who returned to the city after the war to help rebuild. The loss of their son and the war made it very difficult for them to live happily. Raising their granddaughter was the only good thing they had in their lives left. His monthly pension is seventy eight KM which is barely enough to cover his basic living expenses. Now their granddaughter is trying to give back to her grandparents what she can with the expense they can't cover. Sefik must attend dialysis every other day since his kidneys have stopped functioning properly. He is running out of time however and now needs new kidneys. This surgery can be done but would have to be performed in Toulouse, France. The trip there and operation will cost approximately 40 thousand Euro. He needs all the help he can get.
