Welcome everyone to ACORN!
A.C.O.R.N. Adams County Ohio Rescue Network, Inc. is a charitable organization dedicated to the care and welfare of the animals of Southern Ohio. Through charitable donations, we can provide food and medical care to animals in local shelters and help them find permanent homes through rescue and transport. We have helped many animals by doing rescue, transport, networking, and education. We are always posting the animals in need of rescue, a new home, lost, found, injured, and other special needs. We also inform the public on how to care for their pets. We post announcements of where to take their pets for low cost vetting and spay/neuter. We work with many rescues and shelters. We also transport to vet clinics, rescue groups, and to meet long distance transports. Ed and Melva Jo Kimball of Manchester, Ohio, are the founders of Lickety Split Pet Transport and started the ACORN group. We temporarily foster animals, until they get to their next destination. We are big advocates of the spay and neuter of animals to prevent over population. We work hard to help each animal find a good home.
We are always in need of gas money and supplies: vaccines, dewormer, antibiotics, blankets, towels, bleach, Clorox wipes, dog food, cat food, litter, garbage bags, Dawn dish soap, laundry detergent, vinyl gloves, paper towels, newspapers, hand sanitizer, straw, cedar chips, crates, kennels, collars, leashes, slip lead leashes, dog shampoo, toys, etc. If you can donate, please click on the GoFundMe button.
We welcome posts of lost, found, and rehome animals in Southern Ohio. We are here to help you! We also hope you will consider adopting a rescue animal. Thank you for your support!
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Since we have been coordinating rescue, networking, and transporting, we have helped reduce the euthanasia rate at the Adams County Ohio Dog and Kennel Department from over 50% to less than 5%. The "pound" has been completely renovated inside and out. A new kennel staff has been hired and all dogs and puppies get vaccinated, dewormed, and flea and tick treated, upon arrival. We are in the process of getting funds, grants, and vouchers so every dog is spayed and neutered, before leaving the pound!
