Help Mia get a service dog
Raising funds to begin training a service dog for medical alert/response.
About Me:
I'm not a huge fan of people knowing more about my personal life
than absolutely necessary and had life worked out in my favor, I
wouldn't have to admit this but sadly life isn't always fair. Among a
few other issues I have a heart condition called Postural Orthostatic
Tachycardia Syndrome. It causes my heart to speed up/slow down whenever I
change position and causes my blood pressure to drop so drastically
that I can collapse without warning. On good days my biggest concern is
just the pain and fatigue that comes with my heart behaving as though
I'm running a marathon nonstop but on bad days I risk not only fainting
but tremors and my vision cutting out temporarily leaving me blind. As
you can imagine living alone in a large city with these problems isn't
easy and at times is incredibly dangerous for me. While thankfully
nothing too horrible has happened I've had enough close calls that
further action needs to be taken. I have two options; drop out of school
and go on disability or get a service dog that can help keep me out of
harms way. I refuse to let my health force me out of another career so a
service dog is my only real option here. I already found a dog that
would be a good fit for me and a place willing to train him for me but
they need $5000 to get started. I can only afford part of that and am in
desperate need of help. The organization can only reserve him for me
for around a month and finding another dog that qualifies could take
months or years and I'm not in a position where it's safe for me to wait
that long. I'm running out of options for covering the cost and I'm
scared and desperate. So I'm asking for help by means of donations. Not
expecting much but anything at all would be a great help. If you can't
donate yourself if you could at least spread the word to others who might that
would be greatly appreciated.
About the dog:
The attached picture is him. He's a 18+ month old labradoodle currently residing at Doggie Does Good. Due to his age training needs to start as soon as possible. He'll be getting trained to help revive me after I collapse or go for help if needed as well as be my eyes during times my vision cuts out. Basically he'll be giving me back my independence and peace of mind.
