Recently got a very inspiring message from a parent in Watertown. I had to share it.
"My daughter is in the Connections room (Autism room) at the Hosmer.
Can't tell you how grateful we were to have Chris's dog Dallas in her classroom last summer.
This is the first pet my daughter Julia as exposed to that she felt comfortable with. She loved going in every a.m. and giving Dallas a treat.
She really bonded with Dallas and we are so grateful to Chris for the loan of his friend
I actually sat in Chris's Driveway yesterday with a new van ready to go. They will just need to add the hand controls and swivel seat. Now being so close it's just a matter of whether there is a loan or how much he is paying out of pocket. I never imagined it would go so well. Thank you
On a separate but related note. I am personally interested in helping more people.
There are just too many of my neighbors facing disasters by themselves.
I will be launching my own Crowd funding site in the coming days. This site will be for us to reach out and help our neighbors in need.
There will be needed accountability and integrity currently missing on sites.
More on that coming soon.
Special Thanks to Watertown Toyota
We have 4 days left and Only $7000 left to go!
I updated the goal to reflect the following amazing events. Watertown Toyota has made it possible to get Chris a Brand New Toyota Sienna! That is a $60,000 van!
That's $10,000 we started with. Plus $30,000 from friends, local organizations and family!
Watertown Toyota has committed to paying the remainder to get Chris into a brand new accessible van!
Another very noteworthy donation is the Watertown Rotary club who committed $2000
This Friday will be the last day of the Gofundme page. Since it will take 5 business days to get the check. So Chris can get his new van next week!
Wow! I love Watertown and Arlington and I feel so fortunate to be able to live and raise my family in such a great community. What a great example for our kids. There are so many people offering their help. I believe we will be presenting Chris with a new van next week!
Monday 2/3 will be the last day of this fund raising effort. I have to get this amazing check to Chris so he can get his van!
It would be wonderful if everyone who contributed can present him the van together. So I will let everyone know the date and time when I have it.
At nearly $18,000 today!
I can't begin to thank you enough for the outpouring of support. I am going to have a long day with Chris when this is done making tons of phone calls and emails to thank everyone personally. Yesterday at 11pm and this morning Channel 5 covered the story. Chris and myself have received so many calls from people looking to help.
It's really amazing how many people Chris has helped through the years. I've heard stories from his friends in high school, college. Former students who are now grown up and have children themselves. Even former teachers from Arlington and Watertown. Seeing how all the donations big and small really add up. It's Truly inspiring :) Clown Shoes Beer was kind enough to donate $1500 - Incredible!
I would like to thank the people who have reached out to me. Thank you for getting the word out. I know we are half way to the goal because of your time and hard work.
The goal is to get Chris sorted out by Monday February 2nd.
With 20 days to go, I am feeling so optimistic!
Please continue to help me get the word out.
Amazing how Watertown School parents have come through for Chris!
I've seen so many donations from friends of friends as well. To all of you, Thank you from the bottom of my heart
For those that do not know him personally. This article written a few years back will no doubt help you understand. Why so many people have reached out to help him.
Thank you to everyone who has offered their support.
I am deeply touched by the amount of support Chris has received. It's a reminder of how many great people there are out there.
Yesterday his van officially died. The door would open correctly and the ramp chain snapped. We are working on some temporary transportation.
I have a favor to ask. If you know anyone with a solid sphere of influence i.e. radio, news, celebrity. Please reach out to them to spread the word.
Remember every dollar counts.
