Everybody who knows Pat, loves Pat. In the spirit of that affection, Patrick's friends and family have come together to provide love and support as he continues his defiant battle against Gastroesophageal Junction Carcinoma. So many of you have reached out, looking for ways to help. Your caring during this challenging time means everything to Patrick.

Here is his story...

Patrick is an amazing man with a larger than life personality. He'll captivate you with his charm, gentle spirit and magnificent smile. He is creative, talented, cerebral, and a man of many passions and varied interests. Son, brother, father, friend, uncle, cousin... He is blessed to have a wonderful family and a wide circle of friends. The outpouring of love from everyone is testimony to his amazing soul. Your words, deeds, and prayers, provide support as he continues to meet each daily challenge.

Patrick loves engaging in spirited conversations over good coffee or wine. As accomplished in the kitchen as he is in the wood shop, he also loves the water, and water skiing. But his true passion is for his family and friends. Anyone in need has surely seen him show up, at the ready to help in any way he can. Patrick enjoys nothing better than being the "grill master" on a summer weekend in his parent's backyard surrounded by as many people as possible.

Music is one of his lifelong passions, as it fills his soul with joy. Patrick, with his beautiful tenor voice, starting singing young and never stopped, until cancer sidelined him. High school friends still talk about his performance in Godspell, and as an adult he has had the sheer joy of performing with Colonial Players of Annapolis, Bowie Playhouse, Annapolis Dinner Theater and the Annapolis Opera. To see him on stage is to see the light that truly is Patrick.

He displays his talent for outdoor architectural and landscape design through his business, PM Wallace Design. He has attempted to continue working, dipping his toes back in when health and energy allow. But bi-weekly chemotherapy and it's unfortunate side effects, are unsympathetic to his needs. Not being able to work is devastating on many levels. Limited income and a mountain of medical expenses, far exceeding health coverage, add stress to an already heavy burden.

Unfortunately , Patrick's life was turned upside down on August 30, 2013, when he was diagnosed with GE Junction Carcinoma, cancer at the conjunction of his esophagus and stomach, which has metastasized to the liver. His battle, and journey of healing began immediately. He altered his lifestyle to an all organic diet, removing many of the foods he thoroughly enjoyed prior to his diagnosis. He has engaged in countless hours of hands on research exploring any and all possibilities that might help in overcoming this formidable opponent. One can only marvel at his display of amazing discipline as he remains focused on winning this fight.

Cancer is challenging at every turn and difficult to endure. It affects it's victims physically, mentally and financially. But Patrick is no martyr, and with his army of supporters he continues to persevere with gratitude and that beautiful smile as he meets each challenge.
