Ice Skating Rink Fund(by Military Vet)

Donation protected

First off I'd like to thank you all for taking the time to view my campaign page. Now for the Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) I am looking to raise funds to establish an ice skating rink (Estimated 2015/2016 open date). This rink while open to the public would primarily be used for a training facility, of course we would have numerous public sessions for recreational needs as well. Now for the rest, I am a active duty army service member with 23 years of service. I have four real world deployments including Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom, but way before that I grew up in the ice rink as my Mother, Judy Campbell was a figure skating coach. I have trained, competed in all aspects of ice and inline skating from figure skating, hockey, speed skating, to aggressive inline (ramps & street course). Anyway as you might imagine the army has not exactly been conductive to saving large amount of money for my dream of opening an ice rink, which brings me to this campaign page. As a veteran I can apply for a SBA backed "Patriot Express" Loan up to $500,000 however most banks will still want to see that you have an equity stake/investment into your business as well. I can assure everyone that ALL funds will go only to this project and I will post regular progress updates (daily if possible) Obviously this will not be a multimillion dollar facility, but rather a smaller but functional simple rink that we can grow as need arises. Anything will help as there are lots of things we will need funds for prior to opening, examples include: Business Plan development, possible trial run with smaller portable rink, rental skates, Zamboni, ice edger, rubber matting, dasher boards, building/land, skate shop items, and even concession supplies and equipment (I did not forget a skate sharpener machine as we already have one). I plan on this being located outside of FT Bragg, NC, but the exact location will be determined by price of land/building available in the Summer of 2015 when I retire. Yes, some of you may know that there is a rink on the base itself, however it is prominently a hockey rink with a limited figure skating program and a speed skating program is nonexistent there as well. Additionally FT Bragg, NC has cracked down on how easy it is to get on base, they now require background checks for visitors, and as you might imagine there are to many many willing to do that every 30 days just to go skating. The Fayetteville area has a population count of 374,157 as of 2012.

If you cannot donate, please at least share this effort with all, especially fellow skaters!

* The video used is of myself and my friends, at this stage we are not looking to build ramps such as these pictured but in the future perhaps we can build real ice half pipes once we have a training facility of our own.
