Get Shonda Back on Her Feet

Donation protected

What happens when a woman who works to help  people with disabilities loses her job because of her OWN disability? People rally around her, that's what.

Meet Shonda: She's a fierce spirit and a beautiful heart who kept going strong after losing her leg due to a rare neurological disorder called Charcot-Marie-Tooth. This was after an original fatal diagnosis of Postviral Cardio Myopathy when the strep virus attacked her heart, and diabetes. She had two strokes and was hospitalized for 29 days.

While she was healing, she finished her degree in counseling and committed to helping others who were disabled. Off she went to  work for her local Social Security Administration.

She lost her foot four years later. After another six months she lost her leg due to complications from CMT.

Through it all her blazing spirit and relentless good humor in the face of challenges has inspired everyone who knows her.

But now, because she ran out of days off to get the help she needs, she's on unpaid leave and is filing a new social security claim.

With no income,  Shonda lost her home and has moved in with her elderly mother - who's still working so she can help her daughter.  To add insult to injury, her car was reposessed. Seriously, how can you pay for a car when your medical bills are more than most people's mortgage?

Please join me and Shonda's family and friends in helping her get back on her feet. Yes, that's a terrible pun, and that's excactly the kind of thing that brings a glint to my beautiful cousin's eyes. Let's keep that glint shining; donate what you can to help her pay medical bills, get her own house back, get a car, heck, even fill it up with gas once she gets it. NO amount is too small -- give two bucks if that's what you have, but share her story please: #HelpShondaGetBackOnHerFeet
