Help Fund a Female Cyclist's Dream

I am a female athlete with a dream to become a full-time professional cyclist. If you know anything about women's cycling, you'll know that funding is a constant struggle, from professional teams, individuals, and race organizers. Sponsors are hard to find at the best of times. Most women, even at the professional level, need to hold down a second job to help support themselves. So as an athlete just breaking into this world, you can imagine it's a challenge. Cycling requires a huge commitment of time, travel, fees, gear, etc. that adds a whole other aspect.

I am excited to be racing for Kruis p/b Repucom, a new women's team based out of New York for the 2014 season. I am also proud to be a part of Manitoba's Provincial Team, they took me under their wing this last year and continue to offer amazing support.

As an athlete, I have transformed my life, made sacrifices, and only begun to push the boundaries of my comfort zone and ultimate potential. I have already learned so much in the past (and first) year of racing, and am excited by how much more there is to learn! It definitely takes a strong support system to chase this dream, and I am fortunate to have such supporting family and friends. This journey is teaching me to persevere, but also recognize that I can't do it alone. I don't want finances to be the thing that limits my growth. So I'm reaching out to you for support to help me get to races around North America, and one day around the World.

Racing internationally will further develop me, expose me to challenging competition and courses, and give me exposure all around. This is very important at this stage of my cycling career, as experience is the most valuable. In your support of me, you are indirectly supporting women's cycling, and my dream that one day there will be greater opportunity and equality for women in cycling. Women should feel inspired to follow their dreams and realize their full potential!
