Over the past 2 months, so much has changed for Nina and the Poeta Family. Nina has been receiving radiation treatments 5 days a week and Chemotherapy every 2 weeks. She is counting down the days of radiation. Only 5 more to go!! She has been so brave and positive throughout this time. Nina has even continued to cheer!!! Mom & Dad have learned so much in this short time and continue to research possible treatments taking place all over the world. Cara is staying strong for her sister and is juggling school and family time quite well.
The most promising study recommended so far is at Sloan Kettering in NY. Doctors are reviewing Nina's case to see if she is a good candidate for their protocol. In addition to all the medical treatment and research happening to help Nina on her journey, an unexpected phenomenon has taken place in our small community. The outpouring of love, prayers and financial support has been and continues to be amazing. Since the fundraiser at Molto Bene which raised over $12,000, local shops have raised money for The Poeta Family, "A Day of Healing" took place at Pheonix Yoga & Wellness Center and The Boys and Girls Club is hosting a Day for Nina. The Boot Drive, organized by the Seymour Police, Firefighters & EMS, raised $12,000!!! The Cheer community has been a tremendous support, too, providing dinners to the family while they are so busy and distracted because of this battle.
The University of St. Joseph Soccer and Basketball teams hosted a fundraiser; Nina's good friend Taylor designed a Nina Strong T-Shirt with her and has sold hundreds at various events to benefit the family. Nina Strong bracelets are being sold by friends Lauren and Erica. These are just some of the positive events since November.
Thank you all for your continued support. Please keep Nina and her family in your prayers.
to keep up with Nina's progress and upcoming events.
