A post from Paul:

Update for anyone concerned: Sorry it's been a little while since I've posted anything. I've been feeling a bit reserved lately due to extreme sleep deprivation, which I'm currently working on with different meds. Anyways, I got my biopsy and it ended up being pure germinoma, which is malignant but very treatable. I will be starting a low dose of chemo next week and depending how it reacts will be a factor in the amount of radiation I will need. Treatment will be a process and shitty to deal with, but that is all temporary and I just have to surrender my body to it for the time being. I have a pretty positive attitude about what the outcome will be, considering I'm in some of the best hands possible. This will all be the past one day and I'll be able to look back and say, "I kicked cancer's ass.". So yeah, if you're waiting on a message reply please give me a little time to get my circadian rhythm back to normal. Thank you for the support, I love you all.

Update:

Hello friends and family and kind strangers! First, the Zegarac posse would just like to say thank you to each and every one of you who have helped to donate and send Paul positive messages thus far. Paul has now been home for a full week, and is slowly returning back to his regular self, minus the lack of sleep he has unfortunately gotten. It is wonderful to see how many friends and family and even strangers have taken an interest and expressed concern for Paul these past two weeks. My siblings and I are very keen on recognizing random acts of kindness and taking appreciation to those with good hearts, so this is huge for us and we will definitely be contacting you all with regards to our eternal gratitude. When we found out the news of Paul's tumor two weeks ago, we wanted Paul's worries of keeping up with living expenses to be the last thing on his mind, hence starting this page. This money will help out Paul the next four months as he receives his four scheduled chemo treatments and battles his brain tumor, and will also support our parents once they receive the hospital bills. Paul's doctors have confirmed that he has the most treatable cancer, and that with radiation there is a very high chance that he will be free of his condition after his last chemotherapy session.

As of now, Paul has had a major issue with his sleep, and is working on getting back onto a normal schedule. If you have tried to get ahold of him and have not heard a response, please be patient. If you would like to know any further information, you are more than welcome to contact me or any of our siblings. Once again, the Zegarac family thanks all of you. We're hoping to have some type of celebratory gathering once all of this has cleared up, and will provide more information the sooner we are putting on that event.

Thank you,

Kate Zegarac

Original post:

Help the sweetest and most creative soul get back on his feet once he returns to his everyday life. Paul's been out of work the past few weeks for what he first thought was mono. On Wednesday (7/22) we received the abrasive news that Paul is actually battling a cancerous brain tumor near his penial gland. As stressful as these last few days have been for our family, it has been nothing less than a treat getting to spend quality time together, everyone craming in Paul's hospital room, sharing childhood stories and joke after joke. In my eyes, Paul is the most genuine and caring person I have encountered in my life. When initially hearing of this tumor, he was the most calm in the hospital room out of our siblings and parents. He is very intune with his breathing, and has kept a positive mind-set through this all, manifesting a desired outcome.

Paul has had to wait around at the hospital to receive a biopsy for four days now, and has been nothing but patient the entire time. The rest of our family is beginning to grow frustrated, but it is only in our nature that we want fast results that will further explain the type of tumor and surgical approach the neurologists will have for Paul's case.

The last thing I want for Paul is to leave the Cleveland Clinic feeling apprehensive that he must return to work right away in order to keep up with his regular bills. Our family is very lucky to have the insurance we do, but no one is ever completely ready for such a major setback. I will update this post with more detail of the surgery procedure once we find out, but for now I am going to leave this here on my Facebook hoping that other kind souls will help Paul get back on his feet. I put the goal for $400 because that is the average monthly amount of bills that Paul pays for living on his own. If we are to exceed that $400 we will put the rest towards hospital bills to support our parents.

Thank you so much for the concerns you have all expressed on Paul's recent Facebook posts. Your love and uplifting attitudes have already done so much for Paul and the rest of our familiy and we are eternally grateful for the supporters and lifelong friends and relationships that we have.
