send youth ultimate Israeli team to European championchips
The European Youth Ultimate Championships will take place
on August 5th to Aug 15th, 2011. Flow (The Israeli Flying
Disc Federation) is sending 3 national teams to represent Israel in this
prestigious competition, taking place in Wroclaw, Poland. The youth teams are
composed of over 40 teenagers (ages 14-19) that are split between 3 divisions "“
Boys under the age of 20, boys under the age of 17, and girls. The Children are
from all over Israel (from Sde Boker in the Negev to the Golan Heights in the
north), and a coaching staff made up entirely of volunteers.
The first ever national youth team in Israeli history travelled to the World Ultimate Junior
Championships in the United States in the summer of 2006. The following year
another team participated in the European Championships. Over the last two
years, with the sport's growth in Israel and vast increase in players, teams
were sent continuously to both the European and World Championships.
Ultimate Frisbee is growing leaps and bounds in Israel,
and attracts more and more players and spectators each year. In 2009 the
Israeli Ministry of Sports officially acknowledged Ultimate as a competitive
team sport represented by FLOW. However, no financial resources have yet been allocated
to Ultimate, and the national teams are funded out of pocket by the players
themselves.
We implore you, Ultimate players, Frisbee fans, or if you
simply understand the important of representing our special, little country
amongst the world's best, to please help, support, and donate in any way
possible.
The amazing and talented teens travelling to Poland as
our ambassadors practice for many months, go on training camps, and spend much
time and money. Unfortunately there are also players whose parents struggle to
meet the many financial costs, who will be unable to participate without your
support.
