My name is Steven Smith, 10 years ago I was shot by my ex best friend. I am paralyzed from the shoulders down and also on a ventilator, the road has been long but I'm still standing tall.
In life we have ups and downs, but the way that you move on is with perseverance, strength, faith and love...that in all helps you deal with it. I believe I was given a second chance and I do not wan't to waste It. You should never want to waste the first chance, but if you get a second one, definitely, do something positive with it.
Everyone is put on this earth for a reason we never know what that reason is, all I know is whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability and that should be good enough at the end of the day.
I'm a motivational speaker to kids about guns and violence and how to stay off the Streets, because I was once that kid. I am also about to attend school so that I can study psychology and then will be able to help people that have been hurt or that are in the same situation I'm in. There are a lot of people that don't truly understand what we, who have been put in this situation, are going through, but I have an idea.
I would like everyone that visits my page and to also check out my video blog that I have started. I am hoping that I will be able to raise enough money so that I buy a wheelchair assessable van. A lot of the companies that I have dealt with, transportation-wise, are not really dependable because you're always on their time. I need to be on my own time so that I can make my appointments on time. I need to be able to get out whenever I want instead of just sitting in the house, especially with me being a motivational speaker, and going to school. I would like to go out to school instead of just sitting in front of the computer, which is okay at times, but I still would like to attend class. Some people would like to stay in the house all the time, but not me I can't do it. I was trying to raise the money on my own, but it's so much harder than I'm able to handle on my own and the type of van that I need is so expensive. That's why I decided to join this site.
Nothing is too little and no amount is too high! But please know that I deeply appreciate everything that is given.
