Hey All,I am a diver training for the Olympic Games in Rio. Training takes up much of my time and I can't work enough hours to make the money I need to pay for my loans. I went to a very expensive school and owe a lot of money in loans. Unfortunately I didn't get much scholarship for diving because I was a walk on and the school didn't have much to offer once I became more successful. I don't regret where I went because I may not be where I am now! It's about two and a half years out of the Olympics and it's crunch time which means my time is dedicated to training!
Here's a little bit about me, I am 26 years old grew up in Southampton, PA. I graduated from Rider University in 2010. Right now I am currently living in Fairfax, Va but getting ready to move to State College, PA to finish out my training for the next few years.
I started diving when I was six years old, but I didn't get serious with it until I got to college where my coach told me I could go far in the sport! That's when I got to business. After I graduated I moved to Indianapolis to train full time (40 hours a week!). I moved to Virginia to train with my college coach who became the new George Mason coach. And now I am moving to Penn State.
Now about my diving career highlights!
At Rider I was the first athlete on the swimming and diving team to ever qualify at division 1 NCAA championship meet. I qualified three times. I got athlete of the year in 08,09 and in 10.
In 2011 I was a national champion for the first time ever. At the 2012 Olympics trials I got 3rd place in synchro.
But so far 2013 takes the cake on being one of my favorite years. I got 5th place at my first ever individual international meet, I got 7th place at the World Championships in Barcelona for 3m synchro, and at our national meet I went 2nd place on 3m. It was a very busy year but successful!
I wish I could do this alone but I can't. MY parents are doing all they can to help me out. but my 193,338 dollar loan is NOT helping. My mom just finished her last radiation for breast cancer and she still continues to work non-stop to help me. I want to do anything I can to help them out.
So this is why I am asking to help me raise money.
