Impact of Facetime!

Facetime has positioned itself as the "game-changer" for the video-communication industry.
Apple best-understands the visual aspect of communication.
Facetime is simple, easy, and it works!

Statistics

FACT: It is estimated that 70 percent of 911 calls were placed by mobile phones and that number is significantly increasing.
FACT: For many Americans, the ability to call 911 for help in an emergency is one of the main reasons they own a cell phone.
FACT: Of the roughly 190 million 911 calls made last year, or 500,000 each day, 50 million originated from wireless phones. Based on U.S. Census estimates, this data shows that one call to 911 is placed for every two U.S. residents. (Source: Report Card to the Nation: The Effectiveness, Accessibility and Future of America's 911 Service, National Emergency Number Association, 2001).

Impact of 9-1-1

Self-Explanatory. The impact could be the difference between life and death depending on the nature of the emergency.

Facetime meets EMS!(emergency medical service)
Connectivity is the key to effective and efficient public safety communications. Since the advent of 9-1-1 systems and services a generation ago, rapid and reliable response to emergencies has been possible because of the ability to connect citizens with public safety resources. Next Generation 9-1-1 technologies enable improved connectivity between public safety agencies and increasingly mobile, digital and wireless citizens. With the ubiquity of personal, portable communications tools in all forms, 9-1-1 agencies are faced with the necessity to build the capacity to respond using those same technologies.

Sales Story:

We were inspired to form the concept of this app from a personal tragedy that occurred in June of 2012. We lost our mother due to serious illnesses. However, the communication with the EMS was all but smooth as I did not know how to properly perform CPR while waiting for the ambulance along with my mental state of fear and panic. Simply stating, an app with these capabilities could have the potential to make an incredible impact. The average caller might not be able to convey exactly what they see, but with a photo or video available, it will improve the accuracy of information being relayed by the caller. More information can be essential in the triage of the call, as well as provide better clarity, and easier processing of the call. With this information, call processing is more efficient, providing better customer service to callers. Call receivers have the knowledge of what dispatch needs, and being able to view pictures or videos will provide greater solvability, without having to rely on the caller's memory or perception for information. Calls will be processed more accurately and will provide improved credibility with dispatch and responders.

The Funds raised will go towards the development of the App as well as cover costs for rewards. We plan on creating a huge demand for the development and release of this App by making everyone aware of the potential benefits of this app and the need for it. We feel as if something like this should already be out, so we decided to be the ones to introduce it! In order to fully implement this service and see it come to fruition, its going to take a collective effort in which we will need everyone's support!!

Industry Trends:

By most estimates, the mobile health apps market is a gold mine. It will see revenue grow from $230 million in 2010 to $392 million in 2015, according to Frost & Sullivan.

When Research2guideline, a research company specializing in the mobile market, also included revenue not just from the apps themselves but from marketing, transaction fees, services and device sales, they estimated that the mobile health app market increased sevenfold last year alone, from about $100 million to $718 million.

The mobile medical app "“ also known as MMA "” industry is one of the most rapidly expanding fields in the industry. There are currently 27,000 unique MMAs on the market, with 5,000 new ones launched every month.

"These apps can help reduce hospital readmissions and reduce the cost of chronic diseases," said Rep. Chris Collins, R-NY, chairman of the House small business committee's Subcommittee on Health and Technology. "This will be the next stage of patients taking control."

Some experts estimate the number of health-related mobile apps at no fewer than 40,000. A recent study from Juniper Research, a British company that studies trends in mobile technology, suggested there will be 44 million downloads of mobile health care apps in 2012"”a figure projected to rise to 142 million by 2016. And according to the Mobile Health Market Report 2011"“2016, revenues for health care apps increased from $718 million to $1.3 billion between 2011 and 2012.

Mobile industry analysts Research2Guidance have come out with a new report on health apps, predicting that in 2017, worldwide mobile health market revenue will total $26 billion.Getting back to the predictions for 2017, the company projects that more than 3.4 billion people will have smartphones or tablets with access to mobile health apps, and 50 percent of them will have downloaded health apps. The bulk of the $26 billion in revenue won't be from paid downloads (which will make up 9 percent), but from mobile health hardware and services (84 percent). This is consistent with Research2Guidance's predictions in their previous mobile health report last year.

Risks and challenges
Potential Obstacles: 1.Popularity of the App- in which we will strategically market and advertise with our many tools and resources ( Press releases, Blogs, Social Media, etc.) 2.Simplicity- The App's functionality is based on simplicity for users. 3.Development Delays/bugs/crashes- in which we will design Updated Versions of the App (1.0, 2.0, etc). 4. The blending of Face Time technology with 911 services- Next Generation 911 technologies enable improved connectivity between public safety agencies and increasingly mobile, digital and wireless citizens. With the ubiquity of personal, portable communication tools in all forms, 911 agencies are faced with the necessity to build the capacity to respond using those same technologies. In other words.. We as a community must Start a movement, make a huge buzz about E.M.S and create a demand for this service to available. 911 Agencies should already be aware of the potential uses and NEED for an APP like this!! But just in case they aren't... We will make them aware ;)
