Jacob'sLadder-OpenHeartSurgery3weeksNew

At Jocob's 3 week check up the doctor noticed a murmur and referred him to a cardiologist. There, Jacob was diagnosed with Complex Transposition of the Great Arteries (a congenital heart defect). This is when the 2 main arteries leaving the heart attach in the wrong place, keeping the oxygen rich blood from getting into his body and lungs. He also has an arterial and ventricular septal defects. Those holes usually close up with in the first, second, and third weeks of life. However, they allowed the two sides of the heart to share the blood allowing some oxygen to move through out his body and lungs. They helped in saving his life.

Given this diagnosis, The Parkers were told to go out to Standford to meet Dr. Mohan Reddy, the best in the world at this particular surgery. Such a blessing, being he's about 2 hours away. Once there they were transferred into the NNICU and his oxygen levels were dropping quickly. Unfortunately, the holes that were open in his heart saving him were closing up and they did a procedure to open them up a little more allowing more blood flow. Once stable, they were able to monitor and place on the list for open heart surgery.

Jacob has had the surgery and is being monitored and recovering right now. It was a tough 12 hr, and the next 48 will be tough as well finding out how he does recovering and staying strong. It is estimated that he can be at the hospital for 2-5 more weeks.

At this time the family has not had a chance to think of what all of this is going to cost, but that is not a concern they feel is necessary being that it's saving the life of their precious son.

If you'd like to make a donation towards all of their medical bills anything would be greatly appreciated! We are estimating their costs may exceed $10,000. Although your donations are appreciated we do not want you to feel you have to. A prayer for a healthy, strong, and quick recovery is greatly welcomed as well.

More information will be given a little later. If you'd like to be updated on Jacobs condition please check out his blog that is being constantly updated.
