We are two college students in the last year of our undergraduate studies in the U.S. Ha is a chemical engineering major at Drexel University and Justin is a computational math major at Rice University.
The two of us are both avid travelers, eager to enjoy the beautiful experiences that come with meeting new people and learning about local cultures. We met in the fall of 2011 while both studying abroad in Hong Kong at the University of Science and Technology, and have been traveling together in our free time since then.
Our plan is to backpack through Taiwan in December for a month, starting in Taipei and working our way south. We will hitchhike and couchsurf whenever possible, but unfortunately the airfare during this time is very expensive since it's the holidays (around $1500+ per person). The purpose of this gofundme is strictly to raise money for the cost of the plane tickets, as we are able to cover other costs on our own.
We're both working really really REALLY hard this semester -- as in, Justin is working two jobs as a teaching assistant and research intern on top of taking 20 credit hours of classes while Ha is a process engineering intern at FujiFilm on top of taking 21 credit hours -- but the plane tickets are still quite expensive. Traveling is truly easier when you're young though, which is why we're trying to travel as much as we can now before full-time jobs take over our lives!
So, help get us to Taiwan! Every little bit counts!
