3rd Time's the Charm

In February 2009, Taylor Goettner was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the young age of sixteen. After the removal of a thirteen-pound tumor, Taylor started her path towards recovery with the support of family and friends. Briefly after celebrating being four years in remission, Taylor was once again diagnosed with cancer after the discovery of a tumor on her lower intestine. While this news devastated her, she was able to draw upon her incredible inner strength in order to overcome a familiar feat. Unfortunately, this would not be Taylor’s last bout with cancer, as she found a malignant tumor on her gallbladder in February 2015. At twenty-two years old, Taylor received the same discouraging news as she had exactly six years prior. She will be undergoing surgery at the end of February and starting chemotherapy a month thereafter. While she has more experience in dealing with both the physical and emotional stress, it is no easier now than her first experience.

Taylor Elizabeth Goettner was born on September 23rd, 1992 and raised in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. She is the first daughter of Kevin and Joy Goettner and is the older sister of Connor and Chelsea. Taylor is strong-willed and free-spirited, which has attributed to her persistence in the daily battle she faces. No matter how negative of a situation, Taylor has the ability to quickly remedy it with her radiant smile and positive attitude. As someone who routinely makes others’ days better, it is our turn to brighten hers. Taylor has fought hard every day of her life since her first diagnosis, and we are overwhelmingly confident that her persistence will beat her cancer.

The burden that this horrible illness has placed on Taylor and her family is difficult to fathom. Apart from the physical, emotional and psychological distress, there is the financial responsibility as the costs incurred quickly add up. As close friends of Taylor and her family, we decided to start this fundraiser in order to raise awareness not only for her unique situation and the devastation that ovarian cancer can cause, but also to help try and ease the financial burden on the Goettner household. We hope to raise money in order to help the Goettner Family with the various medical expenses associated with the care that Taylor must receive. These include the following:

· Surgery for the removal of the malignant tumor on Taylor’s Gallbladder
· Hospital stays throughout the entire treatment process
· Chemotherapy treatments to eradicate any remaining cancer cells
· Medications necessary to ensure Taylor’s wellbeing
· Doctor appointments at various specialists

A donation of any amount is greatly appreciated, both by the Goettner family and those who organized this page. This fundraiser serves as the first step in a series of events being organized by Taylor’s family, friends and community to raise awareness for her cause.

This page will be updated with Taylor’s progress as she seeks treatment at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There will also be updates detailing future events that are currently in the planning process. We are grateful to any person who visits this page, whether they are close friends, acquaintances or someone who is simply sympathetic for our friend and the difficult situation she is in, and can not thank you enough.
