Volunteer Trip to South Africa
Donation protected
Hi friends and family, I have very exciting news! I am raising money for the volunteer trip of my dreams to South Africa!
I have lined up an at minimum six week volunteer trip working for an organization called The Unravel Surfer Kids Non-profit. Hermann Vivier and his Russian wife Jenya Zhivaleva started the organization which works with kids from a local rural primary-school and high-school to explore and teach life skills, using surfing and traveling as a medium, in a marginalized rural community. The program was established in November 2010 and it is based in the rural community of Friemersheim, just outside the town of Great-Brak River, close to Mosselbay.

Not only will I be volunteering my services to help kids reconnect with their surroundings through coaching surfing but I will also be integrating a yoga curriculum, working at the local school in Friemersheim teaching english and basic computer skills as well as working with local farmers to integrate more sustainable, organic and non-GMO garden practices through out the village. The opportunity to have positive influence and create sustainable change is exponential as I am going to be taking the honor of laying down the frame work and foundation for the growth of their volunteer program for years to come.
This volunteer trip is the chance of a life time and an opportunity for me to really offer up my skills of permaculture, coaching, yoga and teaching to those who can benefit tremendously. I am hoping to raise $2,500 by September 20th to help with the cost of the flight and living expenses of paying a host family while I am there. I also intend to buy organic seeds and garden supplies that will aid in helping Friemersheim in becoming self-sufficient. If I manage to raise more than $2,500 I will use the extra money to buy surf boards and wet suits for the kids so that the program can continue to grow and enrich the lives of the young adults. I am also open to any further suggestions as to what individuals would like to see a portion of their donation go towards.
By supporting my trip you are enriching the lives of young African kids! If you choose to support the cause stay tuned as I will be creating a facebook page so that supports can follow the travel as it unfolds and see where and what their donation is going towards.
If you would like to find out more about the organization I will be working with you can visit their website and Facebook pages at:
