Hello everyone and welcome to Crystal's page. Before I tell you Crystal's story I would like to tell you a little bit about her. When I met Crystal 4 years ago, she welcomed me with a warm smile a a cheerful voice. Crystal is the wife of David Chatham and the loving mother of 4 children. While working as an RN in the Emergency Department for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Crystal is currently attending school to obtain her Nurse Practioner's License, which she is scheduled to complete in the fall. Crystal is well known for her community for the volunteer work she does with her children and their extra-curricular activities. She is the type of person that on Thanksgiving Day this year, when my 3 children and I had no family to spend the holiday with, she invited us to spend the day at her home and eat dinner with her family. This is the typical Crystal Chatham.

Now for Crystal's story. On May 29th, Crystal was stretching before exercising and found a mass on her thigh. Being the typical nurse, a million diagnoses had already crossed her mind before she was seen by the Practioner that told Crystal she should " just see a Dermatologist." But with Crystal's knowledge and strong willed attitude she was on the phone, before she left the Practioner's parking lot, making an appointment with a surgeon. Upon seeing the surgeon she was immediately ordered a CT of her leg. We waited anxiously with Crystal as the results came back and she was told she needed an MRI. However, Crystal never missed a beat as she was researching constantly the facilities that she may need to be treated at if she was given "The Dreaded Diagnosis". Then onto the MRI she went and we waited again... the call... SMALL TISSUE SARCOMA 5.9 x 6.8 x 10.1cm is what the physician told her. As we all sat in disbelief, Crystal was already making the next move, never missing a beat. The decision had been made to travel to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas for her biopsy, prognosis, and treatments. She has been told by the oncology team that she will be required to receive both chemo and radiation. Our hope with this site is to raise as much money for Crystal to help out with both medical bills and travel expenses. God Bless you for your donations and prayers for Crystal, her family, and the physicians involved in her care.
