As colleagues we will remember Edgardo Martínez as that quiet man at his computer desk, a serious journalist and dedicated copy editor who worked at Orlando's El Sentinel, El Diario/La Prensa in New York City and the San Juan Star in Puerto Rico. As friends we got to know him as an admirable human being, an all-around nice guy who was well informed and was devoted to his wife and kids. We know that while he was based in Orlando, Florida, he also lived in his memories of Puerto Rico and New York City. He told us of the countless hours he spent playing with his little steam engines mounted on toy rails in his home, maybe his way of remaining a child at heart. This page is a fund-raising effort in Edgar's memory with the proceeds to be sent to his wife and children to help with funeral and other costs.
