We have exhausted our funds....
Our story is long and exhausting, please take a moment to consider helping us with court fees to gain rightful custody of our daughter. Please read the links below for a long version of our story as well as a link to our blog for current updates.
Our daughter was born in 2009, and when I met her just before her second birthday I knew something was not right. Our road has been long and drawn out, it has included court cases, Child Protective Services, Friend of the court, Doctors appointments, Genetics counseling, Neuropshych appointments and more.
Our daughter has a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and a Reactive attachment disorder.
Her biological mother drank heavily during her pregnancy, and while she does not have full blown Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, she does have life altering disabilities that will always be with her. She also smoked marijuana and smoked cigarettes during every trimester.
We have been to court in order to gain full custody of our daughter because her biological mother has custody of her for three days of the week. The problem here is that when our daughter was still an infant, my husband forced parenting time on her mother because she was absent, in order to have his daughter have her mother in her life. At the time, the days of the week did not matter much so it was set that she would have her in the middle of the week when she did not work. But now, as our daughter is entering Kindergarten; she refuses to switch the days around so she can attend school normally.
Last year, our daughter attended two different pre-schools. Which is not good for a normal child, let alone someone with disabilities.
This should be a cut and dry scenario, we should be able to just agree to switch our days around and get our daughter the help she needs and deserves. But because the Biological mother refuses to give up her weekends, we have to go back to court yet again.
Here is where we need your help:
We have completely drained our resources.
We have driven across the state, we have gone to every specialist. We have paid court costs, and now when we have everything we need in order to enter court again, we are told we need another $1000 before we can file paperwork and be seen in front of a judge.
This is something we need help with, and even $1 will help us get there. I know that we have love and support from everyone around us, and we just need financial help now in order to have our little girl with us for an appropriate schedule so she can go to school, go to therapy, and have a normal life.
I am gathering all of my good karma and all of my prayers and asking you to look in your hearts and help us through this (hopefully) one last hurdle.
