Leader & Father Killed Christmas Eve

Donation protected

On Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2016, my dad, Marvain Adams, was tragically killed in front of our neighborhood. A reckless driver was speeding and hit my father while he was blowing leaves. You may wonder why he was out there doing that on Christmas eve but he died doing what he loved, helping others. I'll never get over seeing him on the ground and watching him as he stopped breathing. To say that I am devastated is an understatement. I have no idea how to function or live life without him. I love my dad and was always his shadow. My dad was not only loved by his family but also by the community. He was a a leader by helping others. He always did whatever he had to do to help anyone in need. He didn't have much money but he frequently gave his last dollar to help others. He cleaned yards and would open up our house to anyone in need. He could cheer anyone up and had a great personality. Any time that anyone had any struggles or tragedy in their lives, he would be there for them. Everyone was treated as a family member and close friend to him. Not just within his living community and amongst friends but in his work community as well. He worked at IBM for 30 yrs and everyone that worked with him has always expressed to me how kind he was toward them. Any job he had, he made sure to do the job well. He had pride in any work he did and treated all those that worked with him with respect. There was no setting that caused him to not stay true to his heart. I could write all day about my father but I wanted to let you all know what your donations are going as well. - Funeral Cost. My father didn't have life insurance due to a tight budget. I want to raise enough money to give him a proper burial. I don't have much experience with funerals and deaths but I'm learning that they are very costly. I just want my dad to be given a proper burial like he deserves. - House expenses. It was only my dad and I living in my childhood home. I'm a college student that commutes from home. I also work two jobs. I don't make enough to make ends meet for our house. My dad loved this house and was proud that he was able to keep this house this long. I have so many fond memories in my home. Even though, he was killed just a walk up the side walk, I'm dedicated to staying in the house and keeping it in honor of his legacy. This is the only place that I can be, that helps me feel his presence. I know that is what he wanted. He loved our community and he couldn't see himself ever leaving. I want to take care of the house like he always did. I never understood how he was able to always pay all the bills but he did. So I am taking over the house in honor of my dad. I, my family, and community appreciates any help you can give. I have some big financial burdens with the funeral and house but my love for my dad is giving me high hopes that all will work out. I know it will! Please share this post.  I'm located in Lithonia, Ga. If you want to contact me to send your best wishes, prayers, or happen to know my father, please feel free to do so. To hear so many positive words and well wishes thus far as really helped us to keep going. We need to hear and feel love right now. We just don't understand how this could happen or why. We're so hurt and angry at the same time. Words couldn't truly describe my pain or anyone that knows him. Thank you all. I can't express enough thanks for anyone that takes the time to read this story, share, or donate. I love you even if I don't know you. My dad loves you too. Thank you and please hug your love ones tight for me. Thank you.
