Dahlia's Hope

Dahlia was born 06/03/10. She was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH) at 6months old. This puzzled the doctors because it is a rare diagnosis for an infant. After a 4 month stay in the hospital, she was released with an extensive list of medications to maintain her condition. She had made progress and 2 years later she was weaned off all her medications and oxygen under the doctors direction that they had misdiagnosed her.

Turns out, the original diagnosis was correct. One month after being fully weaned, April 2013, Dahlia relapsed, and this time the PPH was back with a vengeance. All the medications that originally worked to maintain her condition no longer helped. She was maxed out on 3 of them, and the doctors did not see any signs of improvement.
The original hospital treating (Arnold Palmer in Orlando) her could no longer manage her and had to transfer her. This new hospital is 3 hours away (we live in Melbourne, and her new hospital is Shands at University of Florida in Gainesville). The transfer was important because the new facility specializes in her condition. They have the equipment and medicine to maintain her. They are seeing sings of improvement. However, we are not out of the woods yet. She will need to be there for a couple more weeks at least. Then after discharge, she will need to be seen frequently (at least once a week).

The mounting cost of transportation, upcoming medical equipment, and overall care is becoming overwhelming. Any donations made will be used to support her and her medical needs/doctors visits.
