Hi, my name is Dave Seay and I am Director of Sales, Marketing and PR for Virginia Motor Speedway. I have been entrusted by many of Ernie Shelton's friends to set up this campaign to raise money to help Ernie pay for his extensive medical expenses.
Most of you know that Ernie Shelton as the promoter of of one of dirt racings oldest events the USA 100. In 2006 Ernie brought the event to Virginia Motor Speedway where it the race is currently held. In the time Ernie has become more than just a promoter of a race he has become family. I now know why Ernie has so many friends, he is one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Unfortunately Ernie is having a rough time with his health. It all start near the end of last year when we almost lost Ernie to his health issues. Ernie has had to endure multiple operations and months of rehab. As of Friday Ernie was still in the Critical Care Unit at WVU Hospital. This time he has issues with blood flow to his intestines and also had two blood clots removed from his left leg. There is no timetable right now for when he will be released.
Ernie would never ask anyone for a dime but would be the first to give all he had. That is why his friends have started this GoFundMe campaign so that we can help him with his medical expenses and living expenses.
Ernie is on a very limited budget and has not been able to work in some time. The medical bills and living bills are piling up. We need the funds as quickly as we can get them to him so we can help take that burden off him.
Ernie is a special person, as many of you know, and he can use our help. We are all family in this dirt racing industry and we always help those that need it. Ernnie needs it and we hope that you will feel in your heart to donate something, anything to this fund.
