My name is Christopher and I am 22 years old. I've recently have left my dead end job of 4.5 years to pursue a job with better opportunities and in the field that I wish to be in with my career. This transition has been hard because my last day at my current job was 3 days before the new job was supposed to start.
On Thanksgiving I was heading to Appleton to my grandfathers for dinner. And to spend time with that side of the family that I don't see throughout the year. It had been raining so the roads were covered in water. As I was getting off the highway doing 45 my left front tire locked up on me and I began to hydroplane. My car which was down to 35 when I started to slide was now speeding back up running down the incline. As my car continued to slide down the off ramp I noticed I was heading straight for a pole. And I tried turning the wheel left and right to avoid the pole.
My car hit the pole doing 35-45 mph. My first thoughts were not with me but with my family as I knew dealing with this would take up my whole Thanksgivjng. I immediately called my insurance company to make a claim and get things figured out. Afterwards I notified my family of what happened.
A couple of days later I found out that my insurance would not be covering any of the costs. Now with me being 22 and in the middle of switching jobs this absolutely devastated me. Because on this same day my new job called and pushed my start date back 7 days. Meaning that I was loosing 10 days total of pay in a time when I needed money the most.
This meant that I was living off what little savings I had been able to acquire before leaving my previous job. A grand total of $100. I've had to borrow a total of $500 from my family a friends and I also had to return any Christmas presents that I had bought just to make ends meet and pay basic things like rent and a payment on a car that I wasn't able to drive.
I'm accumulating debt faster than I can save money to fix my car. I've had to get my car towed for $200 just to get it back to my house. And then another $100 to get it towed to body shops and back for estimates. I have to pay people to give me rides to and from my job. I can't get loans from the bank where I make my car payments because I haven't been at my new job long enough. My family has done all they can to help me.
So I know the Internet has done amazing things and helped people in their time of great need. So I'm just asking for help. I need $2,500 to fix my car and start getting my life back on track. I don't really expect this to work out but I'm on my last leg and grasping at straws right now. So anything that you can do to help would be amazing. Thank you for your time.
