Sara's Mission for Guatemala

Hi everyone and thank you for visiting my page!
I am planning my first mission trip to Guatemala over the Christmas holidays. During this trip I will be visiting with children and elderly's and hoping to make the holidays a little more special for some of the people that are in need.
Since I will be there for Christmas, my trip will involve the following:
- 1 Day Christmas Celebration at a Childcare project
- 1 Day Christmas Party for the Caring for the Elderly project
- 1 Day Christmas Party at the Animal Shelter
The remainder of my mission will involve construction/renovation projects. These projects start on a weekly basis and I am so excited to see which project I will be helping with. It could be anything from building a new park for children in an area where they do not have a play ground, or helping with the reconstruction of school houses or family homes.
Throughout my visit I will be staying with a host family and other volunteers from around the world. I will be learning about their culture and local traditions of Christmas and really getting a feel for the local food and way of living.
With this page I am not looking to raise money for cost of this mission, I have decided this is something I want to do and have paid for the trip on my own and even better, half of what I pay goes directly to the community of Antigua, Guatemala, the family that I am staying with and the gifts that I will be giving for Christmas. I am hoping to raise money so I can bring certain things with me and I have included the details of these items on the Wish List found on this page.
This is the first of many mission trips I intend on getting involved with and I am hoping to return to Guatemala on an annual basis.
As for the items on the Wish List, I will be happy to accept donations of these items rather than money donations. Anything that you can do to support this cause is so much appreciated and thank you for all of your kind words, thoughts, prayers and support.
