Darren Nichols fundraiser

It’s been nearly a year since Detroit News reporter Darren Nichols suffered a stroke on the job last September. He is still recovering and we are rallying friends and supporters to assist Darren and his family.

Darren is a well-respected veteran reporter, who has dedicated 23 years to the paper.

Most recently, he was stationed in the Detroit City Hall bureau covering Detroit’s administration and serving as a key contributor to the city’s bankruptcy coverage.

On Sept. 25, 2014, Darren was at work when a colleague discovered he was having a medical emergency and called for an ambulance. Darren was transported to the hospital and spent weeks afterward in a rehabilitation center. He later returned home to continue with his recovery and treatment.

Despite some setbacks, Darren has remained in good spirits and focused on his rehabilitation.

To show our continued love and support, we are seeking donations to help offset some of the costs associated with Darren’s medical care.

Please help us by chipping in online, or come visit with Darren at an upcoming fundraiser being held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at The Anchor Bar, 450 W. Fort Street, in Detroit.
