Jarrod is in great spirits these days. He got to go to that awesome Bruins game last nite. He surprised me on mothers day and we had a nice time. He is walking better but says his right leg is always painful.I hope you can all go to Boston this Sunday May 19th and meet us at the Marathon finish line. He is looking forward to the day that all the victims are home from the Hospital. I thank you so much for your concern and support and lets all stay STRONG!! God Bless, love, Paula

My Son Jarrod...

My son Jarrod Clowery, was severely injured in the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Having been right next to the second explosion, and with several friends, he was taken to the ER at Brigham & Women’s hospital. Since the explosion happened, 37 pieces of shrapnel have been removed, including nails, ball bearings and bee-bees yet there are so many more left inside that cannot be taken out. Jarrod has suffered third degree burns to his back and flash burns on his face, arms and legs too. The concussion from the blast has taken away most of his hearing, the doctor’s say he only has about 15% of it right now, and there’s no telling how much he may recover. He really has to be looking right at you to see your lips move to understand what you’re saying; you can’t just call for him from behind and expect a response.

From the moment Jarrod got out of surgery, he’s selflessly been concerned only about his friends and not worried about his own health and condition. His friends J.P., Paul (brothers) and Mark all lost one of their legs in the blast and they’re roofers who’ll never be able to work in what they know ever again. Jarrod’s compassion and love for other people is so easy to see, he still lights up the room and makes everyone laugh. It’s awful to see your child in pain, you just want to take it away and put it on yourself so they don’t suffer anymore but it’s the opposite, he takes my pain and the pain of others away with laughter and joy.

Jarrod loved working in carpentry and construction and was looking forward to getting back into the busy season, but now due to his injuries he won’t be able to work again for a really long time. It’s going to be a long road ahead; he’s going to need so much help with things both physically and emotionally, so I am hoping to raise money to help relieve my son of the financial burdens that will most assuredly follow. We have received and outpouring of prayers and kind words, from so many people, and are so thankful for all of them. Jarrod has said he is so thankful!

Hi Jarrod - You are a true inspriration. It is unfathomnable what you have gone thru. And I heard you - no questions. I think was managing my own anxiety, having been at the finish line - my deepest appologies. Wishing you the very very best recovery possible. Blessings.

I've never met you personally, but if I recall you are the dad that always followed the guys down the field yelling to the guys to keep going and cheering them on all season long!!!! God bless you! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi Jarrod, It's Marie, the BWH cardiology nurse who met you outside on Wednesday, April 17th. I was the runner who was wearing my Boston marathon shirt and I went over to meet you and to see how you were doing. You asked me to pray for your three friends: JP, Paul, and Mark. I wrote all your names on a piece of paper and I have it posted on my bathroom mirror so I pray for you all every morning. I continue to follow your progress and I wish you all only the very best. Continue being strong! Fondly, Marie

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jarrod. Wishing you a speedy recovery. I don't know you but your concern for others in the midst of your own injury shows the kind of person you are, someone for whom my heart sure reaches out to pray God for you. May God bless you.

Jarrod, I know that you are more concerned about your friends than you are for yourself right now. That's what makes you such a good guy. You deserve all the help we can give you. Kari

I would like to thank everyone for your generous donations. Today has been a pretty good day. Lots of family and friends have come to visit, the support is so great. I got most of the bandages off my right hand, it's moving pretty good now. My left hand and legs are still bandaged up pretty good. They're talking about possibly doing skin grafts on my left hand, but we'll see. My love goes out to all of you, thank you so much. I will keep you updated on how things go.
