Cathy's Fight with Cancer

Welcome and thank you for visiting Cathy' s story. Two years ago, Cathy decided to make a drastic change and she left California to live in Texas. She left her family and grandkids to go on this adventure, which is unusual for a Mikaelsen to leave the vicinity of their parents. While Cathy was in Texas it took sometime to develop a normal life, she had been living out of her car while looking for a job. It took several months, but she did find a good job that she enjoyed, rented an apartment and even found a kitty to love. During this time, her then boyfriend began abusing her, both mentally and physically. Cathy, being the proud person she is, didn't tell anyone. In May 2016, the family was aware of the abuse and she was flown back home with a small suitcase - basically the clothes on her back. He would not allow her to pack her things or take the kitty home. She began healing but was not healing physically. She started looking for a job because she had/has nothing, nor was she asking for any handouts. That's not Cathy, she is a very proud and stubborn person and does not ask for help. However, she will give to anyone else in need, even if that means it's her last dollar. Only being home for a month, she had a physical in June 2016, because she was constantly tired and in pain. InJuly she was diagosed with cervical cancer. On August 30, we were informed that she has inoperable stage 3B cervical cancer and it must be treated with chemotherapy and radiation. This news left us numb and we still have a thousand questions. But right now, the most important thing is that Cathy needs our love and support and anything you can do to assist her in this time of need.
