Fire Left Veteran Homeless

Donation protected
My father and stepmother have lost everything but their lives and the clothes on their back. Their home went up in flames Thursday night.

Both in their 80s and living on fixed income, insurance was not something they could afford for their aged mobile home.

My father, Richard Vaughn, a US Air Force Veteran and my stepmother, Audelia Vaughn, a retired nurse from a charity hospital and their two dogs, are now homeless.

The American Red Cross stepped up and helped them with immediate food and clothing needs as well as a mattress to rest their aged bodies on at her sister's home.

As previously mentioned, their mobile home was aged. It has been home for decades. It was grandfathered in, albeit nonconforming. Since the fire it cannot be repaired or replaced. New construction is the only option.

I don't know where to begin except to start removing debris and have the carcass of my parents home hauled off.

I have no clue what a small one or two bedroom frame home would cost to construct but one thing I do know and that's that every little bit counts.

My mother taught me that we are no one without each other. Right now, I need you! Even fifteen - twenty dollars can buy masks and gloves to clean up debris.

Thank you

Godspeed
